Pumpkins Are Not Enough

Last week the BBC news online reported that motorcyclists in Nigeria have taken to donning dried pumpkin shells to meet a new legal requirement for wearing protective headgear.  Apparently there is a high incidence of fatal and critical wounding on the country's streets.  Authorities are having none of it and have begun to impound the bikes of those who would wear vegetables instead of man-made helmets.
